It's decided!! I KNOW just what I want for my birthday....

My birthday is coming up in a few weeks and it just hit me what I would REALLY love, and more importantly, what I REALLY NEED......

I want a WIFE for my birthday!!!

Yes, that's right---a wife. It hit me today as I walked in the house after my photography class.

I was happy after letting my creative juices flow for a few hours in the class. When I arrived home, dinner was already cooked. The clothes I had washed this morning were already dry and folded. The house was clean. It was DIVINE.

You see, my mother-in-law, Gayle has been here this week. She is the mother-in-law everyone wishes THEY had. When she comes to visit, she helps out so much, I feel like I am queen for a day---and I have someone to keep me company too!

The thing is, I always hope that when she comes to visit, that it is a vacation for HER. But, she always manages to make it vacation-like for me.

I realized having her here is kind of like what it would be like if I had a wife---everything gets done magically and effortlessly. I have an extra set of hands ready and willing to help at all times with ANYTHING. She cooks, does laundry, runs errands, picks up the kids and does it all with a smile on her face. She looks like she is having fun doing all of this. And, she loves my husband and kids!!

SO, after comtemplating the wonderful reality of this, I realized I want and NEED a wife.

Thank you Gayle, for all your help!!

Great posts. So true. We could divide up the work. I would do the things I don't mind doing and my "wife" could do the rest (like dusting!) Glad she is there for you!

It would be so nice to have some help, but I always wished for a house boy! I know, some things never change!!! A wife would probably be better. Love reading your thoughts and I love those pictures your took!! You lovely woman!

That is so great! I love this post! It is a great tribute to Gayle. I have to say, I have often thought, it would be really fun to leave the house and magically have all of my clothes return to my closet and drawers clean and ironed, to walk into the bathroom and see everything magically cleaned, and open the fridge and see food reappear regularly without effort from me. I'm not sure if that would require a wife or a genie. I guess if I want meals included in this deal, I need a genie...

So good to hear form you in my comments today! It has been fun to find John Ferrin recently on FACEBOOK! I am bookmarking your blog so that I can keep up with you. SO funny you would ask about the old roomies! I heard from Penny just before your comment. I keep in decent contact with Pam and Cindy (who is also in Chicago! She lives in Evanston.) Email me for info, and let's keep in touch.

Although having a wife is a wonderful thing (that's for Linde reading over my shoulder)... a description such as "everything gets done magically and effortlessly" clearly indicates you have never had one.... :)

Good luck with that...

Yes, I'm using Linde's login to spy on you girls' conversations, but couldn't help revealing myself this time in the knowledge that you'll all have forgotten by next week...
